On Sunday, November 16th, participants in this year’s WISE Within Mentorship Program closed out the season at an all-day “retreat” at the Woodland Park Zoo. For a second year in a row, the zoo was witness to a joyful event that tied a bow on a fruitful summer of one-to-one (and small group) mentorship
experiences.
Participants present at the “retreat” included: Abby Owens, Amy Landram, Alison Scott, Heidi Carlson, Katy Semtner, Jacque Holowaty, Linda Lowry, and Michaella Putman; joined by WISE Seattle Mentorship committee members: Angela May, Beth Sylves, Caitlin Rogers, McKenna Bryant, Mel Harrow & Pili Langman.
The cohort spent time reflecting on their six-month mentorship journey and took time to describe the WISE Seattle community as supportive, inspiring, inclusive, and adaptive. They also shared learnings from previous group and pair activities which included: shopping women-owned businesses, yoga classes, pride parades, boat days, volunteering, and workplace visits (i.e., “take your mentee to work day”). Not to mention the various “tools” they each used to support their mentoring journeys, such as: podcasts, reading lists, and a “shared Google Drive” with tips and tricks to follow.
For those of you who weren’t there, we’ll leave you with a few key takeaways from the day:
Applications for the 2026 program will open in December... and, mark your calendars now for WISE Seattle’s Speed Networking Event, set to take place on Tuesday, February 10th at Seattle University; we hope to see many of you there.
